New Post coming by February 9!

The holidays, family illness and life in general came together to mean I have not posted on the site in a month.

Coming next week are two new posts on following my great grandfather’s story in Arkansas where he resided for almost 30 years after leaving Georgia as a young boy with his father. My research trip in November opened up a wealth of information and records that I did not know existed.

Thanks for your patience…

Kathy

  1. MY GRANDFATHER’S FAMILY WERE IN ARKANSAS TOO. I AM 80 YEARS OLD. AN ONLY CHILD. FINDING CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN EXTREMEMLY DIFFICULT FOR ME. IN SHORT TIME MY ANCESTOR WILL BE HERE TO ESCORT ME ON. I WISH I COULD MAKE GENEOLOGICAL CONNECTIONS BEFORE I MOVE ON. CLAIR NISBET WAS MY GRANDFATHER’S NAME. MARRIED CORA ALICE McAFFE. HE WAS BORN 1880 DIED 1924 DIED. BURIED IN A PARAGOULD ARKANSAS CEMETARY THAT WAS DESTROYED/MOVED(?) TO BUILD A ROAD. BUT LIVED IN MISSOURI. IN SHANNON COUNTY

  2. Shirley, I have not found any information yet. However, I did send an email to one lead who might have a Cora Alice McAfee from Arkansas in their family tree. I will let you know if I hear anything more.

Today is 3..16..2019. many years has past since I sent the above messages. I dream someone or something will appear before my demise about Clair Nisbet and Cora Alice McAffe Nisbet before my demise? I am now 84. Missouri and Arkansas hold the secret..My maiden name was Shirley Jean Roberts.Born in St. Louis . 2 13 1935 My adult name is Shirley Woolsey Morant

    • Shirley, I was not able to find anything. However, I have not looked again in the past ten months. I will see if I can find anything this week. I will be in Arkansas in September, but only for a few days, same with Missouri. I will be visiting my Cartmill and Moore relatives on my father’s side in Missouri for only two days and will be once again paying homage to my great grandfather Moses Crittenden and the early Cherokee settlement there for only three days.

    • Shirley, I can find no connection between your Eliza Crittenden and my grandmother. I have also looked on Ancestry for any records for Jewel and her father Clair. I can only find a 1920 census where they are living in Pike, MO with Clair’s sister-in-law (it appears that his wife, Jewel’s mother, is dead by 1920) and Jewel’s seven siblings. I find no record of Jewel or Clair after that. I am so sorry that I cannot help. I just have not been able to find anything at all to connect your family to mine, or any clues about your relatives that I can follow up on for you. Kathy
